Move-in week already, and we're already behind 🫠. Dining has changed. A lot. New company, new stations, new everything, and nobody explained it to you. So here it is in one quick read.

Today’s Menu:

Whether your extra dinning dollars survived the switch

What's actually new inside the dining halls (less than you think)

The MarketPlace's new lineup — who got replaced, Panera's arrival, and new food trucks

District Pickle, the new expanded kosher option

Your Dinning Dollars made it through

Quick context: the new operator is Chartwells (they run dining at 300+ colleges), branded on campus as Bearcat Dining. New name, new signage — but your account didn't get touched.

Same BU ID card, same Dining Dollars, same $1 = 1 Dining Dollar value

No admin fee this year — that's new, and it's in your favor

Rollover rules haven't changed: dollars carry semester to semester as long as you keep a qualifying plan

Check your balance the same way you always did, in the Grubhub app

Same dining halls, new names behind the counter

Don't expect a gut renovation, the layout's the same, and a lot of the same staff are still behind the counter; nobody got cleared out in the switch. What actually changed is the branding and a handful of new station concepts layered onto the existing setup. Here's what's new where:

Hinman: The Eatery station now covers deli sandwiches (Hinman Deli), pizza (Flour & Sauce), baked goods (Bearcat Bakery), and a noodle bar (Noodles & Co)

C4: United Table — new stations include Between the Bread (deli), Kosher Kitchen, Masala Dabba (halal), La Mesa (Latin-inspired), and Ciao Bella (Italian)

Appalachian: New stations include 500 Degrees (pizza), Chopped and Wrapped (deli/salad), Fan Fare (halal), plus Delicious Without — a dedicated station for students avoiding the top 9 allergens and gluten

CIW: Dine + Connect — Homestyle comfort food, a pizza station, a made-to-order deli, and The Nook for desserts, plus halal options

Same pattern everywhere: new station names and concepts, familiar space, familiar faces running it.

Panera's here, and a few spots changed

The big one: Panera Bread opened in Science 1 on Aug. 10, open 7:30 a.m.–4 p.m. weekdays — first name-brand chain in the mix.

Inside the MarketPlace itself, it's less "brand new" and more "reshuffled":

Chick-N-Bap stuck around, but moved to the center of the MarketPlace

      Royal Indian stayed

Halal Shack is new, and took over Chick-N-Bap's old spot

Jamal's Chicken is new too, replacing the old chicken spot

Also new to the lineup: One Sushi, Fire & Rice, B3, Leaf & Loaf, and Enzo's Pizza

Two new food trucks are rolling too: Bearcat on the Prowl for made-to-order favorites, and The Daily Sip for Starbucks drinks on the go.

And if you're not on main campus: The Hungry Bearcat (Events Center) is built for student-athletes, ITC Cafe covers coffee and grab-and-go at the Innovative Technologies Complex, Bagels & Bowls is the move at Decker, and Bearcat Express covers downtown and the Pharmacy school.

District Pickle: The new kosher option

Kosher access just got a real upgrade. District Pickle, a full kosher deli in the Union, is the newly expanded kosher option on campus — a step up from what was available before.

Kosher Kitchen is still running at C4 alongside it

Halal stations are no longer just one hall's thing — they're now in all four dining halls

Delicious Without (free of the top 9 allergens + gluten) expanded to Hinman, C4, and Appalachian

Two on-site dietitians are available for 1-on-1 allergy and dietary consultations

➡️ ReusePass launched — grab a reusable to-go container at any dining hall cashier, return it later. (Sign up: https://app.reusepass.com/binghamton/)

➡️ Bearcat Dining is tracking food waste with an AI system called Streamline, aiming to cut down on what gets thrown out.

➡️ Student-athletes: Performance Circle at Appalachian now builds meals around USOPC nutrition guidelines.
